108: UK hotspots in 2007
01-06-2007
By popular demand, the PropertyInvesting.net team can report the 2007 Hotspots for Britain. The tabulation is based on research and analysis of 10 years of trends, plus forward forecasting based on socio-economic changes, infra-structure developments and demographics. 800,000 people are due to swell London's population in the next 10 years - we don't see 500,000 homes being built though. The GDP growth of 3-4% with services sector private jobs growth and less reliance on public sector and manufacturing jobs than the north supports a forecast of robust capital value increases in the next 5-10 years in the London area. Immigration, inward investment, the Olympics and transport improvements will also benefit most of East London. West London's popularity will likely increase with wealthy foreigners settling and bankers-finance people. These high net worth individuals want to live in nice areas, with restaurants, nightlife, good schools, safe neighbourhoods with proximity to West End, City and Docklands work areas. Hence, most hotspots are near the city centre where most of the wealth is created.
Popular and regenerating coastal holiday towns will also do well - as money ripples from London.
