We all know what we're meant to do when selling a home: De-clutter and clean. But did you have any idea just how MUCH money you could be losing with a dirty home?
Well, we've just found out.
Cif invited three independent estate agents to value a fairly unremarkable London home. Then cleaned it, and asked a different three estate agents to value it afterwards.
The price difference was an astonishing £280,000. That's right, 3 hours work and £15 spent on cleaning products added 26% to the home's value.

What else you can do to sell faster
So if you're looking to sell your home, how can you get the most money for it? We teamed up with the National Association of Estate Agents for 5 top tips:
1. First impressions count
Outside is the first sight of your home a prospective buyer will have. It takes just 10 seconds for buyers to make a snap decision and many won't even enter an unappealing home. So tidy the front garden, clean the paths, clear any leaves and trim any hedges/the lawn.
2. Go with the flow
Check the gutters and drain covers are properly cleared of dead leaves and other debris as leaky gutters and down pipes cause damage and are unsightly.
3. In the Garden
A messy garden can signal the need for too much work and thus detract buyers. If possible, clear patio furniture away. Fix or secure any loose fence panels or gates. It is also advisable to cut back overhanging branches; this will help brighten the property.
4. Bright and beautiful
Ensure your home is well lit. This means making sure all of your lights work, including the security lights. If a viewing takes place during the day, open all of the curtains and blinds to ensure as much natural light as possible can enter the home. Making sure the doorways, entrance, stairs or porch are clear of clutter can help create an inviting home.
5. Warm and friendly
It’s important to make your house feel warm and homely. If a buyer enters a property that is cold they’re unlikely to stay long. Smell is also important. You are going to get a bad reaction from buyers if there is an odd aroma or damp smell hanging around. So freshen up, let some fresh air circulate and the old cliché of fresh bread or roasting coffee really does work.
