Bentley Hall, in the village of Hungry Bentley on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales, is a historic country house which has risen, quite literally, from the ashes.

A fire in 2006 destroyed part of the upper floors of the Grade II listed 17th-century property, which is documented in the art historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner’s The Buildings of England.
The damage necessitated a complete restoration, which took place in collaboration with English Heritage.
In the course of an extensive makeover, the period details were reinstated and the property was modernised.
Now, it is once again a handsome family home, set in four acres of gardens and paddocks.

It has six bedrooms and as many bathrooms. Four of the bedrooms, including the master suite, are on the first floor in two wings, and two others are on the second floor, which they share with a large cinema room overlooking the rear gardens.
The house has remote-controlled gates and there is separate access to a single-storey barn, with potential for development.

Bentley Hall is in a quiet spot but isn’t too remote. Derby is only 11 miles away, and the market town of Ashbourne six miles. There are easy links to the M1, M6 and M42, and East Midlands airport is a short drive away.
House prices in the East Midlands are expected to rise by 20.5 per cent over the next five years, according to a study released this week, so this Derbyshire property could well increase in value.
